Ilham Amirov: "Taliban" may be involved in crash of Azerbaijani Il-76
The probability that the accident with the Azerbaijani cargo plane Il-76 in Afghanistan had to do with the movement of "Taliban" is high, said Ilham Amirov, the head of the commission to investigate the reasons of the accident.
At night on July 6, near the Bagram Airport, communication was lost with the aircraft of the company "Silk Way", which was about to land; then, the aircraft disappeared from radars. The Azerbaijani authorities confirmed the crash of the craft in Afghanistan.
The "Taliban" movement took responsibility for the rash of the Azerbaijani cargo plane; however, the Afghan authorities refuted the statement of the "Taliban" spokesman that the cargo plane was shot down.
The head of the commission Amirov has confirmed that all the crew members of the Il-76 perished. "The available photos and data suggest that, unfortunately, all the nine crew members died at the crash site. Our primary goal is to reach the place, take away the bodies of the crew and get the 'black boxes' of the aircraft for investigation. I state for sure that it was our aircraft," the "Interfax" quotes Mr Amirov as saying.
The "Silk Way" will pay compensations to casualties' families, the IA "Trend" reports.
