Children of Circassian Diaspora in Turkey visit capital of Adygea

On July 1-3 a delegation of 26 children from the Circassian Diaspora in Turkey, who arrived in Adygea on June 21, visited the city of Maikop.

"The programme prepared for the guests is a very intensive one and it aims to fully familiarize children with their historic homeland," noted Asker Shkhalakhov, the chairman of the Republican Committee for Nationalities, Relations with Compatriots and Media, and continued: "However, the main part of the programme is educational. The school of the village of Panakhes, where the children live in families of compatriots, organized classes for the Adyg language."

"Age of the arrived children is from 10 to 25 years, some of them will soon be a graduate, and our university invites them to enter it," said Fatima Tuguz, the vice-rector on educational work of the Adyg State University (ASU), and continued: "Starting 1992, our university teaches foreign citizens from Syria, Jordan, Turkey, and Chad. This year the university received a quota for training of 50 compatriots of the ethnic Circassians. Probably, someone of these young people will intend to obtain education at the land of ancestors."

The compatriots from Turkey received gifts, including books and magazines in the Adyg language, in memory.
