Krasnodar Territory: rally in support of human rights
On July 5 in the city of Novorossiysk, Krasnodar Territory a picket was held in protection of the rights and freedoms of individuals dedicated to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's meeting with the members of his Council for Civil Society and Human Rights.
According to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, 28 persons – residents of the cities of Novorossiysk, Krasnodar, Temryuk and Gelendzhik – took part in the picket.
The picket organizers stated that one of the main goals of the picket was to attract attention of the President and members of his Council to the contemporary problems of Kuban associated with raiding, fraud prosecution against entrepreneurs, unlawful seizure of business and any type of property in general. Summarizing the results of the action, the protesters prepared and signed an appropriate appeal.
According to Galina Konovalova, the co-chairperson of the public movement "All are equal before the law and court", "the picket passed without any excesses; we are pleased that very large number of people supports the picketers' position". "Among them there are ordinary citizens, motorists, simply people who care. This proves that the civil society is active, and that means there is hope for democratization and positive changes," said Galina Konovalova.
