“Health Resorts of Northern Caucasus” refutes reports of UNESCO’s prohibition building North-Caucasian health resorts
State corporation “Health Resorts of Northern Caucasus” officially refuted the reports that UNESCO banned building of North-Caucasian tourist cluster.
‘UNRSCO does not object to creation of North-Caucasian tourist cluster but just demands a high level of nature protection while carrying out the works”, Rostislav Murzagulov, Deputy Director General of the Resorts on Northern Caucasus, said.
The Russian Government declared its intention to build five modern ski resorts of European class in the territory of Northern Caucasus within the next ten years.
On July, 4, mass media reported that UNESCO World Heritage Committee expressed its concern about the plans of “Resorts of Northern Caucasus” on building a health resort Lagonaki in the territory of the object of World Heritage “Western Caucasus” and insisted on immediate stop of development of infrastructure and tourist facilities within Laginaki territory.
However, Rostislav Murzagulov emphasized that “there was not a single word in the resolution of UNESCO World Heritage Committee about prohibiting constriction of health resorts in Northern Caucasus”.
“It would be strange if this most authoritative organization baselessly prohibited the efforts on economic and social health improvement of big regions”, ITAR-TASS quotes Murzagulov.
Earlier, representatives of “Resorts of Northern Caucasus” expressed their indignation with the statements of Russian branch of “Greenpeace” concerning erection of tourist objects in the Caucasus and sp e of their intention to submit a civil act against this organization to court sk-news.ru reports.
