Rostov Region: rally against medical emergency service closure at Zverevo hospital
On June 28 about 400 residents of the city of Zverevo of Rostov Region started a rally against the closure of the emergency medical service at the central city hospital.
Valery Dyakonov, the deputy of the local Duma, said that he keeps a text of the letter written by V. N. Mamedov, the new chief doctor of the Zverevo city hospital, addressed to Alexander Chumakov, Mayor of the city. In his letter the doctor reports that at present the Zverevo hospital has no facilities for providing emergency medical services, and asks to determine the new medical institution, where those in need of emergency medical treatment will be placed.
According to the information from this letter, the clinic faces lack of specialists and has no medical equipment necessary for emergency medical treatment.
"However, should the emergency medical services be removed, residents and visitors of the city would be doomed to death on the 60-kilometres trip to a nearby city. Therefore, the residents of the city gathered in the square of the House of Culture "Mayak" (Lighthouse) to express their protest," explained the reasons for the protest Valery Dyakonov, the deputy.
The "Caucasian Knot" has no comments from the Mayor’s Office of the city of Zverevo concerning this situation yet.
