About 40 people took part in a picket in protection of greenbelts of Krasnodar

On Saturday, June, 25, a picket in protection of greenbelts was held near municipal Concert hall of organ and chamber music of Krasnodar.

About 40 people took part in the action. The participants of the picket prepared and adopted a resolution which will be directed to municipal authorities. The activists demand to “lay a moratorium on realization of all the projects of site development of parklands, public gardens, areas of general use, water protection ponds for working out a joint decision with the community on reasonability of implementation of these projects and decisions on management of greenbelts and areas of general use”.

The resolution also contains a demand to work out and adopt a municipal ecologic program that would include a plan of development of specially secured natural resources in Krasnodar with the participation of concerned non-governmental organizations within the shortest possible time, a program of recultivation of the city’s dumps and ecologic rehabilitation of polluted territories and areas of water, a program of landscape gardening and reafforestation of the city.

The activists of “Ecologic Watch on North Caucasus” and non-governmental organization “Grassroots” declare that they are going to continue their struggle in protection of greenery of Krasnodar and are planning to hold a city-wide ecologic meeting in July.
