Yegor Sviridov's suspected murderer asks for trial by jury
The criminal case of born in Nalchik Aslan Cherkesov, the main suspect in the murder of Yegor Sviridov, a fan of the football club "Spartak" is to be considered at the Savyolovsky Court the next two weeks. The Cherkesov's advocate said that the defence intends to request a jury trial.
The judge, who will consider the resonant case, has already been assigned. "While we have decided to choose a jury trial," the "Life News" quotes the advocate Dmitry Pankov's speech and continues quoting: "We think they can make an objective decision."
According to the investigators, during the brawl Aslan Cherkesov applied traumatic handgun and shot out of it few times. The suspect does not deny shooting, but assures that he committed the shooting in self-defence. According to Aslan Cherkesov, he shot blindly when he was laid face down on the nearby car bonnet, and accidentally one of the bullets issued from his handgun hit the victim's head and inflicted mortal wound, said the accused.
According to the advocates, Aslan Cherkesov tried to stop the fighters, but he himself was attacked from behind. Meanwhile, according to the expert report, Yegor Sviridov died from wound to the back of his head.
