Relatives of children drowned in Yeysk were questioned via video by Moscow City Court

The Krasnodar Territory Court held a session on the criminal case on death of six Moscow schoolchildren in the summer camp at Yeysk Spit. The session was held with the use of videoconferencing, with the help of which the complainants were interrogated.

The complainants announced two general petitions. One of them is about transferring the consideration on the case to the Moscow Court. The parents of the dead children explained their petition by the fact that the majority of complainants and witnesses, defendants and their representatives live in Moscow. The judge of the Yeysk City Court dismissed the petition.

In their second petition the complainants asked to set the next session of the Yeysk Court on this case on July 1, because on that day they would be in the city of Yeysk and they would like to attend the hearing of the case. This petition has not been considered.

According to the lawyer Igor Trunov representing the complainants' interests, who was present at the Moscow City Court, the complainants' rights had been twice violated. "This is the violation of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Mr Trunov in the courtroom.

Then the complainants were interrogated. Questions to all of the complainants contained a request to tell about the trip to the camp, about tutors, about security measures, and how they got to know about the tragedy. Almost all the relatives of the children answered that they knew nothing about the security measures at the camp, and that they heard about the tragedy from the media and from other parents whose children were also resting in the camp.
