Investigators believe Rector Sadikov's fight against extremism in Islam was main reason of his murder

The investigatory bodies have announced their main version of the murder of Maksud Sadikov, the Rector of the Makhachkala Institute of Theology, who was shot dead on June 7. It was, according to the investigators, in his professional and social activities, where he actively opposed radical Islamic groupings.

As reported by the spokesman of the Investigatory Department of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) for Dagestan, the main version of the murder had to do with Rector Sadikov's professional and social activities, since he was an active advocate of counteracting Islamic extremism through religious education.

The criminal case on the murder of Maksud Sadikov and his nephew was initiated under the articles of "murder" and "illegal arms circulation," the "ITAR-TASS" reports.
