Two participants in Kizlyar terror act sentenced to life imprisonment, the third one – to 24 years of prison
Today the Supreme Court of Dagestan convicted three residents of the republic, accused in the case of a double terror act in Kizlyar, which occurred on March 31, 2010.
Ramazan Magomedov and Shamil Gaziev were sentenced to life imprisonment, and Pakhrudin Akhmedov – to 24 years' imprisonment. All accused will serve their sentences in a colony of special treatment.
"The prosecution has proved the guilt of all defendants in the course of the trial," stated Andrei Nazarov, the prosecutor. "Confessions, which defendants gave at the preliminary investigation, completely conform to witness evidences got during the investigation process," he told.
In return, defendants' advocates asked the judge to justify their customers. According to the defence, confessions given by the defendants during the preliminary investigation were obtained through torture. The advocates also noted that substances, which were found at detainees' and considered by the investigators to be components for explosive devices manufacturing, were not found at the terror act place.
The defendants also pleaded not guilty in their last words, claiming their innocence in this crime.
