Defendants in Nalchik attack case to remain in custody for three months more
Today the Supreme Court of Kabardino-Balkaria has extended for another three months the detention of 56 defendants in the case on the attack on Nalchik on October 13, 2005. Kazbek Budtuev and Zalim Ulimbashev faced an extension of pre-trial restriction: recognizance not to leave.
Today, the court interrogated a range of witnesses, and defendants announced the declaration that the defendant Azamat Akhkubekov, who was previously diagnosed a TB, has been put into a dungeon at wet basement.
Definition of the court on extension of the detention term, in particular, stated: "Having discussed all the arguments, the court decided as follows: being at liberty, each of the 56 accused of serious and very serious crimes can escape or put pressure on the court... Reasons for pre-trial restriction had not been cancelled and declared unlawful."
Detention in custody as a pre-trial restriction was extended for the 56 defendants to September 26, 2011.
