Car voyage "Sochi-Torino-Sochi" plans to learn European experience of waste management
Six Sochi residents in three cars started today an automobile trip from Sochi around the European Olympic capitals. During the trip they intend not only to talk about preparations for the 2014 Winter Olympics, but also to get acquainted with the European experience of waste management.
Participants of the automobile trip will travel across France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Austria, and visit the cities of Chamonix, St. Moritz, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Cortina d'Ampezzo, Innsbruck, Grenoble, Albertville and Turin. This car voyage is a private initiative of Sochi residents, the delegation includes ecologists, employees the Sochi Mayoralty and journalists.
Five out of the six participants started from Sochi in two cars. One more participant shall join them in Europe.
"I'm curious to see what was left as a post-Olympic heritage in the former Olympic capitals: trees, parks, squares, people's attitude to the environment. Besides, I have to work with my colleagues under updating the materials on evaluation of the impact of Olympic facilities in the Sochi mountain cluster to the environment," told Vladimir Ostapuk, the Chairman of the Public Environmental Council of the City of Sochi the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
