Georgia: opposition demands Soso Dzhachvliani's early release
The oppositional party "New Right-Wingers" demands early release of the stage director Soso Dzhachvliani, an activists of the "People's Assembly" of Georgia, who was detained on May 26 during dispersal of the protest rally in central Tbilisi.
Dzhachvliani was detained in the cinema "Rustaveli" together with other oppositional leaders and then arrested. The "New Rights" concerned about the sharp deterioration in Dzhachvliani's health who after his arrest went on a protest hunger strike at isolation facility of the city of Mtskhet.
"Dzhachvliani was sentenced to 30 days administrative punishment, and he does not intend to stop his hunger strike during this time," quotes the oppositional party's statement the "News-Georgia".
The "New Rights" call on the authorities to take into account the Soso Dzhachvliani's health condition and make a decision on his early release from detention, the "Georgia Today" reported.
According to the oppositional movement "Solidarity for Illegal Prisoners', Dzhachvliani's health condition remains serious, he needs to continue medical treatment.
