Budanov's retinue to be questioned on his murder

Close friends and acquaintances of Yuri Budanov, an ex-Colonel of the Russian Army Colonel, will be questioned in the investigation of his murder, said a source from law enforcement bodies.

"At present, we are completing the analysis of call details from one of the Budanov's phones. We made a list of subscribers of so-called" first level ", that is persons with whom he spoke every day," the "Interfax" quoted the source from law enforcement bodies.

The source mentioned that in the nearest future these residents will be invited for questioning within criminal investigation of Budanov's murder. "First of all, this questioning is necessary to determine the range of possible problems which the former officer might have before his death," said the source.

Budanov's close acquaintances include a few dozen people, including Budanov's colleagues (former and current military personnel, including senior ones), businessmen and officials, the "NEWSru.com" reported.

According to one version, the murder of Yuri Budanov could be related to the period when he had been imprisoned in prison in the Ulyanovsk Region, the "Novaya Gazeta" reports. According to the media, in 2006 Budanov had a conflict with Alexander Okunev, nicknamed Sasha Ogonek (Spark), a thief in law. When the latter was transferred to prison of the city of Dimitrovgrad, he was accepted both by prison staff and prisoners who cooperated with the prison administration, among whom Budanov was. Okunev had got a broken arm in that conflict.
