Batumi: from July on tourists will use public bicycles

Starting July 1, the tourists visiting the capital of Adzharia will be able to use public bicycles. 150 of them have been already brought from France for this purpose.

According to Vazha Diasamidze, Chairman of the Department for Tourism of Adzharia, employees of the French company named "Intercycles" will soon come to Batumi, and draft the operation plan of the bicycle system. Then, the tariffs will be set.

According to preliminary information, an hour-long rent will cost 1-5 laris (1 US dollar equals to 1.6 laris, – note of the "Caucasian Knot").

The "Business-Georgia" adds that locals can use the service by buying season tickets, while foreigners will have to buy special plastic cards.

Another Batumi's innovation is in the use of the so-called "audio guides", which are already offered to the guests of the region by tourist information centres. Besides, Adzharia will soon open a dolphinarium and launch several new tourist routes, the TV Channel "Mir" reports.
