The Appelate court of Armenia rejected the complaint of "Aikakan Zhamanak" newspaper
On June, 9, the Appelate court of Armenia on civil cases rejected the complaint of "Aikakan Zhamanak" newspaper. It brought a standing judgment on the verdict of the court of general jurisdiction. The newspaper will have to offset harm to three deputies of the ruling Republican party of Armenia.
Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that on February, 7, the court of general jurisdiction of Yerevan communities and Nork-Marash Center granted in part the lawsuit of three deputies of the parliament against "Aikakan Zhamanak" newspaper with the demand of compensation to a sum of two million drams (about 5650 US dollars) to each of them for publishing untrue information.
According to the verdict of the court, the information in the article "Seven out of eight on the list" published in the newspaper on October, 14, 2010, stating that the names of the parliamentarians appeared in a number of criminal cases initiated in Russia was untrue.
The court also obligated the newspaper to publish a refutation within a week after the judgment came into effect, "Novosti-Armenia" reports.
