Ex- major Yevseev amnestied in Chechnya

Ex-militia major Mikhail Yevseev who had been accused of a number of grave crimes committed in the territory of Chechnya in 2004 will not be made criminally liable. Criminal proceedings against Yevseev were stopped in connection with formerly enacted amnesty. 

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that in August, 2010, Investigative Department of Committee of Inquiry of Public Prosecutor's office in Chechnya initiated a criminal case against ex-major of the Ministry of Interior Affairs in the Komi Republic Mikhail Yevseev who was suspected of beating peaceful residents of the republic during his assignment in 2004. One of the Chechen human rights activists did not rule out that the criminal case against Yevseev might have been forged. 

Law enforcement bodies of Chechnya state that ex-operative officer of the Ministry of Interior Affairs in the Komi Republic Mikhail Yevseev was amnestied and transported back to the Komi Republic. "The charge against ex-major Mikhail Yevseev in Chechen Republic has been totally dismissed. It was done in connection with the amnesty formerly enacted by State Duma of Russia in 2006", law enforcement bodies reported. 

Mikhail Yevseev became widely known after he placed a video message to President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev on the Net in November, 2009, reporting facts of forgery of criminal cases by the personnel of Komi law enforcement bodies. Last November he was sentenced to a year and a half custody in a penal colony settlement for divulgence of the materials of operational search containing a state secret to persons who had no respective access.
