Dmitry Medvedev to examine criminal case on Beslan terror act

During his meeting with Susanna Dudieva, Chair of the "Beslan Mothers" Committee, and Elvira Tuaeva, a member of the Committee, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev promised to study all the materials of the case on the Beslan terror act and try to give a new impetus to investigatory procedures.

Their meeting lasted for an hour and a half.

According to Ms Dudieva, Mr President generally agreed with their conclusions, noting that everyone in his or her workplace must clear execute the duties and be accountable for his or her actions. "Mr Medvedev assured us that after our meeting he would carefully consider the documents relating the Beslan case," she said.

The women handed over the appeal from the "Beslan Mothers" over to Dmitry Medvedev and promised to provide him with the documents on the tragedy.

The victims of the Beslan tragedy insist on adoption of the law on the status of victims of terror acts and provision of social assistance to victims. This issue was also raised at the meeting.

According to Susanna Dudieva, the President was ready to consider their proposals in this area. "We need to develop the appropriate regulatory framework. In our turn, we talked about social problems of the victims and about the patients who need expensive medical care. By arrangement with Mr Medvedev, we'll formulate and submit our proposals to him," she added.

Susanna Dudieva and Elvira Tuaeva were satisfied with the last meeting. "We heard the viewpoints of the head of state. Mr President, I think, heard us. The recommendations of the "Beslan Mothers" Committee were taken by him for consideration. Dmitry Medvedev reaffirmed his readiness to cooperate with us. And this is encouraging," Ms Dudieva has concluded.
