Taxmen in Krasnodar region suspected of bribery

Employees of the Inspection of Federal Tax Service of Russia in Krasnodar are suspected of having received a bribe to a sum of 250 thousand rubles.

According to the investigation's version, in April, 2011, Chief State Tax Inspector demanded a bribe of 600 thousand rubles from one of the Kuban entrepreneurs as a compensation for assistance in taking a favourable decision on the results of tax inspection of his commercial enterprise.

The inspector declared that in case of refusal to pay off the bribe he would impose a surtax upon the entrepreneur to a sum of 1,5 million rubles.

After negotiations the demanded sum was reduced to 250 thousand rubles and the inspector wishing to avoid possible undesirable backwash effects demanded to pass him the money through an intermediary, an employee of Tax Inspectorate, who was personally acquainted with the businessman, RBC reports.

At the moment of receiving the demanded sum the intermediary was detained by operative agents red-handed. According to a report at the web-site of Chief Directorate of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of the Russian Federation in Southern Federal Okrug, the policemen later detained the tax inspector himself.

A criminal case is now initiated against the suspects according to clause 290 of the Criminal code of the Russian Federation, points "a", "b", part 5 (bribe taking on a large scale by an organized group). One of those detained is in custody at the moment, the other is under recognizance not to leave.
