Iranians imprisoned in Armenia threaten to go on hunger strike

The Iranian nationals serving their sentences in prisons of Armenia plan - on the eve of the visit to Armenia of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad - to go on hunger strike, demanding their transfer to Iran. In total, the number of would-be hunger-strikers is 59.

Armenian prisons keep 38 citizens of Iran: 17 inmates in "Vardashen" and 21 - in "Nubarashen". 21 other Iranian detainees, not yet judicially convicted, plan to join the hunger strike.

Earlier, the prisoners had already applied to the diplomatic representative office of Iran in Armenia asking to transfer them to Iran, but the issue was not resolved, the newspaper "Aravot" writes.

Meanwhile, according to the "News-Armenia", the Ministry of Justice has not received any statement of their intention to go on hunger strike from the Iranian prisoners.
