Mosque is started in capital of Ingushetia

A foundation stone has been laid of the first congregation mosque in the city of Magas, where 8000 believers will be able to pray at the same time - it will be the largest mosque in Ingushetia.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports that the region has started building mosques in various localities, while the existing mosques are repaired both on the republic's budget funds and on external donations.

Many residents of Ingushetia hope that the newly-built mosque will be a sort of a symbol of Ingushetia. Hundreds of people, including guests from neighbouring regions, came to the ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the mosque.

According to the project, the access road to the mosque will go along the central avenue of Magas; the total area of the mosque is 11,000 square meters; the main dome will be 50 meters in diameter; and the height of minarets is 64 meters. The mosque and the Islamic complex will be built for sponsors' donations and other non-budgetary sources.
