Rustam Makhmudov suspected of Anna Politkovskaya's murder detained in Chechnya
Rustam Makhmudov whom the investigation considers executor of the murder of Anna Politkovskaya, observer of "Novaya Gazeta", was detained in Chechnya. This was reported by attorney Murad Musaev who represents the interests of Makhmudov's brother Jabrail.
According to him, Rustam Makhmudov was detained this morning in his parents' house.
Musaev welcomed Rustam's detention because he thinks it will have a strong influence upon further investigation of Anna Politkovskaya's murder. Musaev believes that Rustam Makhmudov will be soon delivered to Moscow, radio "Echo of Moscow" reports.
The suspect's detention has not yet been confirmed by the Committee of Inquiry or other law enforcement bodies.
