Ara Ovannisyan is at large in Armenia

On May 27, an opposition activist Ara Ovannisyan, convicted on the case of the events of March 1-2, 2008, in Yerevan, was released under the amnesty from the penal institution "Sevan".

According to the Minister of Justice of Armenia Grayr Tovmasyan, under the adopted amnesty it was decided to release the opposition activists Ara Ovannisyan and Nikol Pashinyan, who were convicted on "March 1" case. Nikol Pashinyan, editor-in-chief of the "Aikakan Zhamanak" (Armenian Time), was also released on May 27.

The amnesty, adopted on May 26 by the National Assembly of Armenia, is also covering Sargis Atspanyan; it is expected that in the near future he will be also set free. In the case of Shamvon Galstyan, it is assumed that he will soon get his CER (conditional early relief), the "PanArmenian" reports with reference to the "Aikakan Zhamanak".
