Mortar shells found near a nuclear power plant in Armenia

Two mortar shells were found in 800 meters distance from Metsamor nuclear power plant in a field neighbouring to the settlement of Akhnalich, Armavir district of Armenia. 

The caliber of the devices is 82 mm.

An operative group of the regional rescue department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia was directed to the scene, “Novosti Armenia” reports.

The shells were taken to a safe place where they will be defused, “Armenia Today” writes.

Earlier, the “Caucasian Knot” reported that since May, 16, a committee of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) had been on a visit in Armenia for inspection of security of the Armenian nuclear power plant. “We have no serious reasons for concern about the inspection of the nuclear power plant”, Armen Movsisyan, Minister of Energy, declared.
