Video conferences introduced into Georgian penitentiary system

Now in Georgia, inmates may contact their relatives through video conferencing. Since May 19, this service is available for juvenile offenders; and in the near future the innovation will be gradually introduced in other penal institutions.

Special rooms will be equipped for such video conversations in penal institutions, while relatives will use monitors to be installed at the National Bureau of Probation.

The duration of a video contact will be 15 minutes; and the service will be granted 3 times a month to every inmate. In order to have it, relatives will have to apply to the above Bureau, the "Georgia Online" writes.

Those convicted for grave crimes will have o access to the new service.
