GIBDD inspector detained in Astrakhan at bribe-taking
At the moment of receiving a bribe of 10,000 roubles, employees of the Department of Own Security of the GUVD (Chief Interior Department) of the Astrakhan Region detained a GIBDD (traffic police) inspector.
A resident of Astrakhan was stopped by the above GIBDD inspector for a traffic violation, namely, for driving against "no entry" sign. Rather than drawing up an administrative protocol, the inspector offered the motorist to pay a 10,000-rouble bribe and gave him an hour to get back with the money.
At the appointed time the offender of traffic rules really came back with the money that had been preliminarily marked by officers of the Department of Own Security of the GUVD of the Astrakhan Region, where the motorist applied with a complaint against extortion, as reported by the Investigatory Division of the Kirov District of Astrakhan.
The GIBDD inspector was detained red-handed at the moment of bribe-taking in his service car, the website named "Astrakhan FM" reports with reference to the investigation.
Earlier, in the Astrakhan Region, investigators of the prosecutor's office detained, together with the local department of the Federal Security Bureau (FSB), a whole DPS (road-and-post service) unit, suspected of bribe extortion.
