Start of construction of Nabucco gas pipeline postponed till 2013

The construction of the gas pipeline named Nabucco, intended to transport gas from the Caspian region and the Middle East to the EU countries has been postponed till 2013. The consortium named "Nabucco Gas Pipeline International GmbH" has disseminated this information.

The above consortium wanted to start the construction of the pipeline in 2012, so that to supply the first gas through the pipes of Nabucco in 2015-2016. However, it had to change the schedule of the project, given the extraction timing in Central Asia and Middle East. Now, the start of deliveries is expected in 2017.

According to Reinhardt Mitschek, Managing Director of the "Nabucco Gas Pipeline International GmbH", until now the project had a good progress. "As soon as formal proposals to the commitments on gas supplies appear, the Open Season Process will start, and the final investment decision will be made," The "APA" quotes him as saying.

Last Thursday it became known that the cost of gas pipeline 4000 km long was revised and increased up to 12-15 billion euros, the ITAR-TASS reports.
