Dagestan: protesters demand to investigate policemen's murders
On April 22, Makhachkala hosted a rally of residents of the Tabasaran District of Dagestan and public activists. The action in defence of law enforcers was about 600 persons strong.
It was organized by the Anti-Corruption Committee and supported by activists of other public associations.
Magomed Shamilov, leader of the trade union of law enforcers, said in his speech at the rally that "as long as they kill our best sons, nothing will change." The profession of a policeman, as he said, has become the most dangerous in Dagestan.
"There are hundreds of widows and hundreds of orphans in the streets. They state fails to help them. They are defenders of the homeland and of the authorities; it's thanks to these people that the authorities are still in power," said Magomed Shamilov.
