Housing construction suspended in South Ossetia

As reported by the State Committee for Restoration Projects in South Ossetia, the funding of housing construction in Tskhinvali has been suspended; it is unknown when it may be resumed.

The State Committee has noted that in 2011, according to the investment program of South Ossetia, the republic will receive 6.8 billion roubles, of which 400 million roubles are intended for building housing facilities; the remaining funds will be distributed among construction of roads to republic's districts, bridges, social facilities and other construction objects.

"This year's housing funding makes 400 million roubles; however, it is not known yet what particular objects will receive the funding - either new construction or completion of those sites already started but uncompleted," said the Committee.

They believe that they need first of all to finish those townhouses, the failed builders of which are now under inquiry; while the poor would-be tenants are still homeless.
