Action "Electric Grid in Defence of Environment" held in Karachay-Cherkessia

Today, power engineers of Karachay-Cherkessia have planted, in the course of the action "Electric Grid in Defence of Environment", 360 young trees.

"360 seedlings of birches, pines, firs, spruces and fruit trees, purchased from the Kuban Forestry and specialized nurseries were planted in Cherkessk and eight district centres of the republic, where we have our district electrical grids and power sales office," said Luiza Bayalieva, press secretary of the "Karachay-Cherkesskenergo".

She also said that the action that the action "Electric Grid in Defence of Environment" was held in all regions of Russia.

"The aim of the action is to restore the balance of nature broken in the course of anomalous climatic events of 2010-2011, when summer forest fires, caused by excessive heat, destroyed thousands of hectares of forests; and in winter because of freezing rains trees broke under the weight of snow and ice," Ms Bayalieva said and added:

"Employees of the Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) 'MRSK of Northern Caucasus' have planted a fruit garden in the territory of their enterprise in Osman Kasaev Street in Cherkessk, while the workers of the OJSC 'Karachay-Cherkesskenergo' planted a fir Alley of Power Veterans. In the territories adjacent to our district offices, workers have also planted orchards, birch groves and pine alleys."
