Million of counterfeit DVDs confiscated in Rostov-on-Don

An underground production facility of pirate products has been liquidated in the territory of an enterprise situated in the northern residential area of Rostov-on-Don. Operative agents confiscated one million DVDs with counterfeit audiovisual records, foreign-made equipment for production and packing and plenty of paints and solvents for marking DVDs.

The operation was conducted by employees of Division "K" if the MIA's Chief Department and FSB Department for the Rostov Region. The underground facility worked in the territory of the former multimedia product factory.

The performance of each unit was about 500 discs per hour, the Rostov-based edition "Panorama" writes.

Law enforcers have found that the owner of the factory had been granting the premises into lease for about a year.

At present, a criminal case has been initiated under part 3, Article 146 of the Russian Criminal Code (violation of copyright and related rights). Besides, operative agents are now establishing the owner of the pirate facility and the losses inflicted to the right-holders, the website of the above MIA's Chief Department for the Rostov Region reports.
