Yunus-Bek Evkurov: DNA assay fails to confirm Dokku Umarov's death
The results of the DNA assay did not confirm the death of the leader of the North-Caucasian armed underground Dokku Umarov, said the head of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov. According to his story, there are now 50 members of illegal armed formations (IAFs) in the territory of Ingushetia.
"The study of the DNA samples, taken from the militants liquidated in the area of Verkhni Alkun, showed that there are no data that Dokku Umarov was liquidated. Investigatory bodies have officially announced that among the tested samples there is no Dokku Umarov's DNA; therefore, it's more likely he is alive than dead," the "Interfax" reports referring to the head of Ingushetia.
"Now, the forests in the territory of the republic are hiding about 30 militants - those, who are active in the forest, on their bases who can commit unlawful acts against law enforcers, the government and the population. Additionally, in the plain we have a few criminal groupings; the count of bandits in them is about 20," said Evkurov. According to his story, there are also about two or three dozens of militants' helpers.
