Political prisoner Aram Baregamyan released in Armenia

Aram Baregamyan, head of the Razdan branch of the Party "Armenian Nationwide Movement" (ANM) and a board member of the ANM, received his CER (conditional early relief) and left the penal institution "Sevan".

Mr Baregamyan, head of the electoral office of Levon Ter-Petrosian in the city of Razdan, was arrested in March 2008 and then sentenced to six years of imprisonment under the articles of "violence against a state official" and "intentional infliction of harm to one's health". On April 1, Baregamyan's advocate addressed the CER Commission asking to apply CER to his client; and the Commission ruled to satisfy the advocate's petition.

Today, the court of general jurisdiction of the Kotaik Region of Armenia decided to grant CER to Aram Baregamyan, the "Armenia Today" reports.
