Human rights activist from Novorossiisk Tamara Karasteleva left the Russian Federation fearing of pressure from members of the top brass
Tamara Karasteleva, human rights activist from Novorossiisk Committee of Human Rights (NCHR), had to leave the county, expert of this organization Vadim Karastelev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. He said that this decision was taken after his wife received a summons to Criminal Investigation Department for a talk from law enforcement bodies.
Vadim Karastelev said yesterday that the summons was handed to Tamara on April, 23. She was invited to Criminal Investigation Department for the reason that she and a number of other members of NCHR were allegedly participants of a certain "informal group" which was on the books of the Ministry of Interior Affairs and it was necessary to interrogate them immediately for establishing their membership in this group.
According to Vadim Karastelev, the operative agent of Criminal Investigation Department who handed Tamara the summons incorporated the data of the family structure and the children in the record.
In the human rights activist's opinion, all these events are a new round increasing tension with a "real danger of making the human rights activists criminally liable".
In connection with this the human rights activists decided that they should ignore the summons to law enforcement agencies and Tamara Karastleva should leave Krasnodar region and the Russian Federation.
