Congress of "Adyge-Khasse" held in Sochi
Today, the township of Lazarevskoye in Sochi hosted the seventh congress of the public organization "Adyge-Khasse" of the Black Sea Adygs-Shapsugs. More than 180 delegates listened to the report of the chairman of the Organization Madzhid Chachukh.
In their speeches, the delegates touched on the major problems of life of their indigenous small ethnic community - the attitude to the upcoming Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014 and interaction with local authorities. Calls were pronounced to establish the Shapsug Autonomous Region within the Krasnodar Territory.
According to some delegates, this is the only way to solve the accumulated problems. As for the upcoming Winter Olympics in Sochi, the majority of Adygs-Shapsugs are ready to support them, but only subject to fulfilment of a number of demands of the "Adyge-Khasse".
