Next session on teenager's beating case in Dagestan to be held on May 3
Today, the Shamil District Court held the first session on the case of beating by militiamen in July 2010 of a 14-year-old boy in the premises of the Shamil ROVD (District Interior Division). The employees of the MIA Magomed Magomedov, Gamzat Nurudinov and Shamil Magomedov are facing the trial. The litigation will continue on May 3.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Svetlana Isaeva, head of the organization "Mothers of Dagestan", who attended the trial, today the parents of the victim have evidenced to the court. Because of absence of a witness, the session was postponed till May 3.
According to Svetlana Isaeva, relatives of the boy are under strong pressure and receive threats. "They were constantly harassed by militiamen's relatives who insist that parents write a statement that they have no claims to law enforcers," she said.
Ms Isaeva told about a strange incident that happened today in the village of Khebda, centre of the Shamil District, where the today's trial took place. "Aziz Kurbanov, the boy's advocate was standing next to our driver. On the opposite side of the street there was one of the accused policemen - Magomed Magomedov. Suddenly he jumped into a nearby Lada car, made a turn and at high speed headed at the advocate. He drove just a few centimetres off and nearly knocked Kurbanov down," said Svetlana Isaeva.
