North Ossetia: kidnapper sentenced to 15 years in colony

The Supreme Court of North Ossetia has sentenced Kharun Yunusov, accused of kidnappings for ransom, to 15 years in a high security colony; however, given the fact that under the 2004 verdict of the Supreme Court of the Chechen Republic he had served 6 years in prison, his remaining term is 9 years.

"Since May 3, 1998, Yunusov and 20 other yet unidentified persons united into an organized criminal grouping with the aim to commit grave and especially grave crimes in the territory of North Ossetia, Ingushetia and Chechnya," says the court verdict.

The defendant's advocate refused from comments, but said the most likely the sentence will be appealed against.
