Resident of Chechnya suspected of kidnapping in North Ossetia
The Investigatory Department for North Ossetia of the ICRF (Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation) has charged an alleged member of the grouping of Chechen field commander Arbi Baraev of committing grave and especially grave crimes.
As reported by Eduard Gusov, head of the press service of the above Department, the 36-year-old resident of Chechnya is accused under the articles of "kidnapping", "robbery", "extortion" and "illegal circulation of arms and ammunition".
According to investigators, at night on May 4, 1998, the accused person, acting together with four other members of grouping arrived in the forest belt near the village of Alkhanchurt, Prigorodny District of North Ossetia. There, according to the investigation, they attacked the local residents who had their rest there and kidnapped two of them. By using the car of one of kidnapped persons the attackers brought them to the territory of Chechnya and kept them there by force, the "Interfax" reports.
