Meeting of relatives of captured sailors with head of Adzharia postponed
Yesterday, on April 21, a meeting was to take place of relatives of the Georgian sailors, kept for over eight months by Somalia pirates, with the head of the government of Adzharia Levan Varshalomidze; however, it was reappointed on April 27.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent managed to contact by phone Sergo Devadze, head of the company "Greenwich", which had recruited Georgian sailors for the Greek vessel and whose son is also in pirates' captivity. Mr Devadze-elder said that the meeting was postponed because Varshalomidze was not in office.
Sergo Devadze said that two days ago his son David contacted him. According to his son's story, nothing has changed on board the ship. The captured sailors starve and suffer from lack of water; pirates keep mocking at them. Physically, the sailors are in poor condition; it's hard to say exactly how long they will still hold on," said Mr Devadze.
