In Dagestan, expert speaks at trial of Nursi follower
In Makhachkala, the court session dealing with the criminal case against Ziyavdin Dapaev, a follower of Turkish theologian Said Nursi, whose written works have been banned in Russia since 2007, listened to Gasan Gasanov, an expert, head of the division of general psychology and chairman of the advisory council for psychology of the Dagestan State University, who stated that there is nothing illegal in Nursi's writings.
At the request of the FSB in Dagestan Mr Gasanov gave a psychological-linguistic examination of the works of Said Nursi.
"The expert said that there is nothing illegal in the writings of Nursi; they are calling to do good things only," the defendant Dapaev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
After listening to Gasan Gasanov, Judge Vera Ivashkina appointed the next session on April 18.
