Actions in support of journalist Fatullaev passed off in Baku, Paris and London
On April, 20, the fourth anniversary of imprisonment of Azerbaijani journalist Einullah Fatullaev, his colleagues and representatives of international journalists' organizations held actions of protest in Baku, Paris and London.
Twenty journalists of Azerbaijan held a one-day hunger strike of solidarity with Fatullaev and demanded to release their colleague from custody. Well-known journalists of Azerbaijan, among them heads of the leading mass media of the country: Mehman Aliev (Director of media agency "Turan"), Shahveled Chobanoglu (ex-Chief Editor of "Gundelik Azerbaijan", newspaper formerly published by Fatullaev), Rauf Arifoglu (Editor-in-Chief of "Eni Musava" newspaper), Ganimat Zahidov (Editor-in-Chief of "Azadlyg" newspaper) and others, took part in the action.
An action with the demand to release the journalist passed off in front of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Paris. The action was organized by international journalists' organizations "Reporters Without Borders", "Article 19", "Journalists' House", "Amnesty International" and lasted about 30 minutes. The participants were holding posters with slogans "Freedom for Einullah Fatullaev!" and the journalist's photos.
A similar action passed off in front of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in London. It was organized by "Amnesty International", "Article 19" the British Pen-club, "Censorship Index" and "Institute of Multiformity of Press". The participants of the actions wearing masks portraying Fatullaev were chanting the slogan "Freedom for Einullah!" in Azerbaijanian and English.
