Four participants of drivers' strike in Sochi arrested

In Sochi, four fixed-route taxi drivers who held strike against free transportation of privileged passengers were subjected to administrative arrest.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 11 Sochi drivers went on strike in protest against the decision of city authorities to organize privileged transportation of elderly Sochi residents. The drivers refused to bring about 100 vans from nine transportation companies to the routes.

The press service of the Sochi UVD (Interior Department) has reported that policemen detained four drivers-participants of the action. Administrative protocols were drawn up against them under Article 20.18 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation (blocking of transport lines).

"Under the ruling of the court they were subjected to administrative arrest," the "Interfax" quotes its source from the UVD.

Let us remind you that the city administration has regarded the strikers' actions as illegal, viewing them as pressure with the aim to increase tariffs.
