In Volgograd, sixteen young mothers go on hunger strike
In an attempt to attract attention of local authorities to the problem of shortage of places in kindergartens of Volgograd, 16 young mothers have announced a three-day-long hunger strike.
The women also stand against "compaction" of kindergartens and for increased funding of preschool institutions and higher teachers' salaries.
The young mothers demand to give places in kindergartens to their children before May 1; otherwise they will go on the next hunger strike on May 4, Radio Liberty reports.
Hunger strikes are held by young mothers in other Russian cities: Novosibirsk, St Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, etc., the "Kasparov.ru" reports.
