The Hague: immigrants protest against human rights violations in Azerbaijan

The protest action, held by Azerbaijani immigrants in The Hague, against suppression of democratic freedoms in Azerbaijan was attended by members of the Dutch Parliament Van Bommel and Hachichi, activists of youth organizations of the Netherlands and Turkish Diaspora.

The political emigrants Eldaniz Yusibov, Fikret Guseinli, Rashad Sadygov and Sabir Budagov, who spoke at the rally, called on the head of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliev to put an end to persecutions of dissidents, release those arrested on trumped-up charges, including the participants of the April 2 rally on, launch political reforms in Azerbaijan and hold new parliamentary elections.

Mr Bommel said that four parliamentarians of the Netherlands plan to raise the issue at the European Parliament on the deplorable situation with democracy in Azerbaijan and called on to introduce sanctions against the regime, the "Rosbalt" reports with reference to the "Contact.az".
