In near future, Nikol Pashinyan's case to be considered by ECtHR

The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has decided to consider the case of the opposition activist of Armenia and well-known journalist Nikol Pashinyan in accelerated manner. This was reported by Vage Grigoryan, one of Pashinyan's advocates.

According to the advocate, the President of the ECtHR has stated that on cases related to Armenia the preference will be given to the applications presented by Nikol Pashinyan, editor-in-chief of the oppositional newspaper "Aikakan Zhamanak" (Armenian Time), who is in prison on charges of mass disorders on March 1, 2008.

Vage Grigoryan said that the court's statement means that the ECtHR would speed up the consideration. "Pashinyan won't have to wait in a queue; and in the near future we'll see developments in this case," said the lawyer.
