Armenia: health condition of arrested oppositionist Samson Khachatryan has sharply worsened
The famous boxer Samson Khachatryan, an activist of the Armenian National Congress (ANC), who is kept in custody, has serious health problems.
As reported by the Legal Help Centre of the ANC, Khachatryan has heart problems. It also became known that a few months ago the boxer had heart surgery in Moscow and continued his treatment till his detention.
According to Armen Khachatryan, an official of the above Centre, Samson Khachatryan's life is in danger, because the isolation facility of the penitentiary institution "Nubarashen" has no conditions for providing the necessary medical care for such disease and the due doctor's control.
When referring to this issue, Arsen Babayan, head of the PR division of the Criminal Executive Department of the Ministry of Justice, said that Samson Khachatryan had passed medical examination; its results will be announced later.
