In Dagestan, case against militiamen who beat teenager sent to court

 

The indictment on the criminal case against three employees of the OVD (Interior Division) who beat a 14-year-old resident of Dagestan on July 20, 2010, has been sent to the Shamil District Court for consideration on the merits.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan that the Public Prosecutor of the Khunzan District had approved the indictment against the following district OVD employees: Magomed Magomedov, a district militiaman; Gamzat Nurudinov, a criminal search operative agent; and Shamil Magomedaliev, head of the division of district militiamen. They are accused of committing an offence under point "a", Part 3, Article 286 of the Russian Criminal Code (abuse of office, committed with use of violence).

This article assumes punishment in the form of 3-10 years of imprisonment.

According to investigators, the defendants applied violence against a minor with the aim of forcing him into confession of a theft. In the course of investigation the fact of theft was not established.
