Tsotne Gamsakhurdia complains to US President about situation in Georgia

Tsotne Gamsakhurdia, 36, son of the first president of Georgia, who is serving his prison term has treated - in his letter to US President Barack Obama - the situation as "deplorable" in the Georgian penitentiary system, in justice, in the electoral system, and in the spheres of the freedom of speech and respect for human rights.

In his letter he asks the US President to instruct experts to study the cases of the citizens, whom he considers as illegally repressed ones, the "Georgia Online" reports.

"In our region, Georgia is considered to be one of the US' allies; and I think you are interested to read an alternative description of reality, which differs from the picture portrayed by means of the PR-actions, by which the Government of Georgia is often stupefying and misleading the international community," Gamsakhurdia writes to Obama.

The RBC adds that Tsotne Gamsakhurdia hopes that copies of his letter will reach the US State Department, the Democratic and Republican Parties and officials of the European Union in Georgia.
