Ingushetia starts resettling refugees from barracks

The temporarily displaced persons living in Ingushetia in kasernes, barracks and garages have received prescriptions to abandon these facilities before April 15.

As reported by Kazbek Sultygov, Minister for PR and Interethnic Relations of Ingushetia, today the republic has 29 centres of compact residence of displaced persons, which accommodate 486 families. Of them, 376 families are refugees from the Prigorodny District of North Ossetia. By summer, all these centres will be liquidated.

According to the minister, a draft programme had been submitted to the government of the republic for the resettlement of displaced persons. If the programme is approved, an interdepartmental commission will be set up to decide the fate of every individual person. "Those who are unwilling or unable to return to Chechnya or North Ossetia, will be granted a land plot," the "Kommersant" quotes the minister as saying.

"We hope that through humanitarian organizations they will be provided with prefabricated panel houses. If not, then from the government of Ingushetia they will receive temporary trailers for residence - at least safe for living. These trailers are fit for living, while people will build their new houses," said the minister.
