Over two thousand cases of kidnapping in Northern Caucasus remain unsolved

Over two thousand cases of kidnapping which took place in Northern Caucasus during the recent years remain unsolved and that is half of all the crimes of this category in the whole Russia.  

"In spite of reduction of the number of crimes connected with kidnapping registered in 2010 by 67 cases (111 crimes registered in 2009), the number of unsolved crimes of the past years (2107) still remains great", Department of Prosecutor General's in North-Caucasian Federal Okrug reports. 

Almost 1,5 thousand of this sort of crimes fall on Chechnya. Besides, the number of registered reports of disappearances of citizens has increased by 4,3 % (up to 3247 cases), RIA "Novosti" reports. 

Simultaneously with the increase of the number of registered reports of disappearances of citizens by 4,3 % (up to 3247 cases), the number of cases of finding people has reduced by 17,6 % (2577 to 2123).

Prosecutor General's states that detection of crimes connected with kidnapping is only possible under the condition of high quality and efficiency of operational search and investigative activities under direct control of prosecutor's offices with mandatory interaction and timely exchange of information, "Rossiiskaya Gazeta" writes.

Department of Prosecutor General's has worked out a complex program of struggle against kidnapping and search of missing people for the period of 2011-2014. The program stipulates realization of a complex of coordinated actions for all the regions in the sphere of struggle against crime.
